Washing - $5.00/lb for all fiber types and based on the incoming weight of fiber. All incoming orders are examined when we receive them. If a fleece requires a lot of skirting to remove manure tags and other debris we wil charge $20/hr (We'll give you a call if this is necessary). To keep your costs down it is a good idea to send well-skirted fiber. You may send pre-washed fiber but if we determine that it needs to be rewashed the same charge will apply.
Carding - $4.00/lb ($7.00/lb for exotics such as mohair, llama, alpaca, angora, dog, camel and fine wools which need special care, etc.) based on incoming weight of fiber. Our price includes picking and carding into either roving or batts.
Pin-Drafting - $2.00/lb ($4.00/lb for exotics) based on finished weight of fiber. Our price includes pin-drafting into sliver.
Spinning - $16/lb for worsted or bulky (2 or 3 ply), $18/lb for sport or fingering (2 ply). Spinning prices are based on the finished weight and include skeining to your specifications. All finished skeins are washed free of charge!
Pricing example - You send 5 lbs of Romney to be spun to worsted weight, 2 ply.
Washing - 5 lbs X $5.00 = $25

Pin Drafting (assuming 20% loss in washing and carding) 4 lbs X $2.00 = $8.00

Spinning 4 lbs (approx.) X $16 = $64
Total cost would be approximately $117
Some fibers may require a little help to process. We find that adding 15-20% wool enables processing and produces a better yarn. Please specify on your order form if you do not want wool added.
